Purka Bapurao, a prominent figure in the Adivasi Rights Struggle, was elected as the Coordinator for the Unified Adilabad District of the Adivasi Rights Struggle Committee (ARSC). Speaking about the historic movements that have shaped the region, Bapurao emphasized continuing the struggles inspired by the sacrifices of leaders like Ranjigond, Kunram Bheem, and the Indravelli movement.
The Adilabad district has a rich history of struggles for the rights of tribal people, marked by the legendary “Mawa Naathe Mawa Raj” and the fight for freedom from exploitative systems, including land, water, and resources. However, despite significant progress in securing water, funds, and appointments in the state, the promised objectives for the Adivasi community remain unfulfilled.
Purka Bapurao stressed the need for a new wave of struggle, which is why the Adivasi people, particularly in the districts of Adilabad, are preparing for another fight for their rights. The Adivasi Rights Struggle Committee is focusing on uniting distant tribes and communities under one banner to strengthen the collective resolve.
At a massive gathering held in Hanumakonda, Warangal, the committee launched its vision for the future, and the state’s top leaders like Burs Pochayya, Sidd Boin Lakshminarayana, Kodapa Nagesh, G Ravinder, Agaboyina Ravi, Somaramurthy, Irp Vijay, and several other prominent leaders participated in the event. The meeting laid out a detailed strategy for the committee’s upcoming campaigns and declared that action would be taken on the central issues affecting the tribal communities.
The event marked the beginning of several campaigns and initiatives aimed at addressing the unresolved challenges and promoting unity and awareness within the Adivasi community across the region. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to fighting for the rightful demands of the Adivasi people.
