Every Student Must Register for APAAR ID: Arsham Raju, Sectoral Officer, Samagra Shiksha
Deccan Freedom News
As per the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020, the Central Government introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), a 12-digit unique identification number, in 2023 under the initiative One Nation - One Student ID. This ID will remain constant from pre-primary education to the completion of higher education, enabling tracking of student progress, reducing dropout rates, and facilitating seamless transitions between schools and states.
The APAAR ID simplifies processes for higher education and job applications by eliminating the need for physical certificates through DigiLocker. This system ensures secure storage and easy access to student details, making it highly beneficial for future generations. To achieve this, all students from pre-primary to Class 12 must be registered for an APAAR ID, emphasized District Sectoral Officer Arsham Raju. For the ID to be generated, the details in school records and Aadhaar must match accurately.
If discrepancies exist in Aadhaar data, corrections must be made using a birth certificate or bonafide certificate. After updating Aadhaar, the necessary changes must be reflected in the school’s U-DISE+ portal. Similarly, if Aadhaar details are accurate but discrepancies exist in school records, corrections can be made as per the special orders issued by the Director of School Education, Narasimha Reddy. The authority for making corrections lies with Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) for primary and upper primary schools, and headmasters or District Educational Officers (DEOs) for high schools, private schools, KGBVs, and Model Schools.
This correction facility is available only until January 31, and all school headmasters are urged to utilize this opportunity to ensure accurate records and register all students for APAAR IDs. Out of 42,000 students across all management schools in the district, only 1,772 students have generated their APAAR IDs so far. All schools must promptly correct records and register the remaining students to meet the deadline.
For further details, schools are advised to contact the District Education Department.
