ISRO on the Verge of Another Milestone: 100th Mission Countdown Begins

Deccan Freedom News

India’s space agency, ISRO, is all set to achieve another historic feat as it approaches its 100th mission. The prestigious milestone will be marked by the launch of the GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle)-F15 rocket, which is ready for takeoff. The countdown for this significant mission commenced on Tuesday, with just a few hours left before the launch.

The rocket, part of ISRO’s 100th mission, will carry the NVS-02 navigation satellite into space. The launch is scheduled for January 29, 2025, at 6:23 AM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This marks the first mission under the leadership of ISRO’s new chairman, V. Narayanan.

The GSLV rocket, in its 17th mission, will carry the indigenous cryogenic upper stage and the NVS-02 navigation satellite weighing 2,250 kg. Developed by the UR Satellite Centre, the NVS-02 satellite is equipped with navigation payloads across L1, L5, and S bands, and also carries an additional C-band payload, similar to the NVS-01 satellite.

This milestone mission will enhance India’s navigation capabilities, aiding in services such as location-based services for mobile devices, Earth, air, and maritime navigation, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, and emergency services. The entire launch will be streamed live on ISRO’s official YouTube channel, beginning at 5:50 AM.
