To familiarize students with cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), the Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with Infosys, has introduced the AP Maker Lab on Wheels initiative. The experimental program was launched in Mangalagiri, with the first vehicle visiting schools in the region to educate students about emerging technologies.
Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh, reviewed the model vehicle at his residence in Undavalli on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he lauded Infosys for its partnership in bringing transformational skill opportunities directly to students. Lokesh emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Digital India Vision and ESG Vision 2030, aiming to provide free digital and STEM learning opportunities to students in remote areas.
Under the AP Maker Lab on Wheels initiative, students will be introduced to foundational skills in electronics, robotics, microcontrollers, IoT, and artificial intelligence. The mobile lab is equipped with laptops, tablets, workstations, and experimental kits, offering a state-of-the-art learning environment.
Each interactive learning session lasts for 90 minutes, after which students can access advanced courses for free through Infosys Springboard, a platform offering world-class technology certifications. Infosys has committed ₹5 crore for setting up the lab and will bear an annual maintenance cost of ₹40 lakh, including course content and trainer support.
The program aims to reach 4,800 students every three months, with daily sessions accommodating 20 students across four batches. Infosys representatives noted that the initiative is expected to significantly enhance students’ exposure to advanced technological concepts.
The launch event was attended by AP State Skill Development Corporation MD G. Ganesh Kumar, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu, and Infosys officials.
