Two Terrorists Arrested in J&K for Involvement in Grenade Attacks

Deccan Freedom News, Jammu:

In a significant development, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Army and CRPF, have arrested two terrorists responsible for multiple grenade attacks across the region, including at temples, hospitals, gurdwaras, and army installations. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain, addressing a press conference, stated that the arrests mark a major success in counter-terrorism efforts.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to their involvement in a broader terror plot aimed at disrupting peace and communal harmony in the Poonch district. They also admitted to putting up anti-national posters in various locations as part of their campaign.

Unlike earlier incidents involving Pakistani terrorists, these two individuals are local residents, indicating a shift in recruitment patterns. The ADGP highlighted that this operation is critical in countering terrorist attempts to radicalize and recruit local youth.

The police, army, and CRPF are now focusing on identifying the funding sources for these terror activities. ADGP Jain added that a rigorous campaign is underway against Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) and sympathizers of terrorism. Several OGWs have been arrested, and their properties are being seized as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle support networks.

This campaign, which has already intensified in Poonch and Rajouri districts, aims to further weaken the infrastructure supporting terrorism in the region.

Reflecting on recent successes, ADGP Jain praised the synergy between security forces, which ensured the peaceful conduct of the Budha Amarnath Temple Yatra and elections in the division. He reaffirmed the commitment of law enforcement to maintaining peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
