Karimnagar CM Cup District-Level Games Begin with Enthusiasm

The Chief Minister’s Cup 2024 district-level games were inaugurated with grandeur at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar on Monday. District Collector Pamela Satpathy launched the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, unfurling the Olympic sports flag, igniting the sports torch, and releasing balloons into the air.
Speaking at the occasion, the Collector emphasized that the CM Cup has provided a platform for numerous talented rural athletes to come into the spotlight. She urged the participants to make the most of this opportunity and shine at the district-level games, with aspirations to win and represent the district as champions in the state-level competitions scheduled from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025.
SUDA Chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy lauded the government’s commitment to sports, stating that organizing CM Cup games from the Panchayat level reflects the state’s vision of nurturing winners from villages to the global stage. He also highlighted the government’s plans to introduce a new sports policy to further develop the sector.
DYSO Srinivas Goud revealed that the inaugural day witnessed over 2,000 participants competing in games like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Athletics, Judo, Baseball, and Archery. He added that top performers at the district level would be selected for district teams to compete at the state level.
Joint Secretary of the Telangana Olympic Association, Gasireddy Janardhan Reddy, noted that Karimnagar has emerged as a hub for sports excellence in Telangana. He assured a bright future for those excelling in the CM Cup games. The Collector also flagged off running competitions and inaugurated the Kho-Kho games after meeting the players.
The event was attended by Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai, Trainee Collector Ajay Yadav, District Medical Officer Venkataramana, Local Corporator Sardar Ravinder Singh, Olympic Association President Nandali Mahipal, Vice President Thummala Ramesh Reddy, Treasurer Nagireddy Siddareddy, SGF Secretary Venugopal, and other sports officials, athletes, coaches, and managers.
