Grand Opening of CM Cup District-Level Sports Competitions in Nirmal

The CM Cup 2024 district-level sports competitions commenced with great enthusiasm at the NTR Stadium in Nirmal on Monday. District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and delivering an inspiring speech.
Addressing the participants, the Collector emphasized that the CM Cup provides an excellent platform to showcase talent and boost self-confidence among youth. She highlighted the government’s initiative to promote sports from the grassroots level, encouraging athletes from village to state levels. The competitions will run for four days, with winners advancing to the state-level games
The Collector conveyed her best wishes to all participants, stating that perseverance, dedication, and confidence are the keys to success. She also announced plans to propose skilled coaching programs to the government to nurture young athletes and help them achieve excellence at state, national, and international levels.
Municipal Chairman Gandrat Eshwar assured efforts to establish a sports school in Nirmal district and highlighted the Telangana government’s provision of a 2% reservation for athletes in education and employment. He encouraged players to excel and make the most of these opportunities.
The day featured competitions in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Baseball, Softball, Archery, and Judo, with over 1,700 athletes from 18 mandals participating.
Notable attendees included District Youth and Sports Officer Srikanth Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Mohammad Kumar Ahmad, FACS Chairman Dharmaji Rajender, Agriculture Market Committee Chairman Soma Bheem Reddy, Olympic Association Convener Sridhar Reddy, School Games Federation Secretary Ravinder Goud, and Kabaddi Association Secretary Sunil, alongside various sports association representatives, teachers, and coaches.
