ISRO achieved another milestone with the successful launch of its 100th mission on Wednesday morning. The GSLV-F15 rocket, carrying the NVS-02 navigation satellite, blasted off from the SHAR launch site at Sriharikota. The satellite, developed by ISRO scientists, weighs 2,250 kilograms and is the second in the new-generation navigation satellites series.
This significant milestone marks the first launch under the leadership of ISRO Chairman V. Narayan, who personally oversaw all the processes. Following the successful launch, ISRO Chairman Narayan congratulated the scientists for their achievement, marking the success as the first launch of 2025.
The NVS-02 satellite is a part of ISRO’s indigenous navigation system, providing geospatial, aviation, and maritime navigation services. It will also aid in mobile location-based services and agricultural technology applications.
The successful launch of the GSLV-F15 has garnered praise from several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who all congratulated ISRO scientists for their remarkable achievement.
