Four Students Fall Ill After Mid-Day Meal in Nagarkurnool
Deccan Freedom News, Nagarkurnool:
Four students of the Government Primary School in Gorita village, Timmajipet mandal, fell ill after consuming mid-day meals on Friday. The students were served tomato rice and egg for lunch. Shortly after eating, they complained of stomach pain and nausea.
Teachers acted swiftly by arranging medical treatment for the affected students at the school itself.
This incident highlights concerns about food safety in mid-day meal programs, despite State government orders mandating the formation of Institution Level Food Safety Committees. These committees are instructed to monitor food preparation, ensure quality, and taste the meals before serving to students, as per guidelines issued by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari.
Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning, with authorities emphasizing the need to prevent such incidents in the future.
