Velpula Arlaiah, the State President of the Andhra Pradesh Village and Ward Secretariat Employees Welfare Association, has urged the government to reconsider its recent decision to divide village and ward secretariat employees into three categories. In a statement released on Tuesday, Arlaiah emphasized that while administrative reforms are welcome, such decisions should consider inputs from employee associations.
He expressed concerns that the proposed categorization of employees, announced during a departmental review meeting, might lead to difficulties and dissatisfaction among the staff. He recalled how, in the past, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu consulted employee unions before implementing major administrative changes.
Arlaiah questioned whether the three-member committee, reportedly formed to implement the new guidelines, has been constituted and, if so, who the members are. He criticized the lack of communication regarding these developments, leaving employees and union leaders in the dark.
The association has been awaiting a meeting with the committee members to discuss the proposed changes and provide feedback. Arlaiah urged the government and the concerned minister to make a clear statement on the issue and take into account the suggestions of employee leaders.
He reiterated the need for transparency and collaboration in implementing administrative changes and called on the Chief Minister to personally intervene to ensure fairness and inclusivity in decision-making.
