Farewell Ceremony for Dr. Appayya Held at Mulugu District Health Department Office

A grand farewell and felicitation ceremony was held at the meeting hall of the District Medical and Health Department office in Mulugu for outgoing District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. Appayya. The event was presided over by current DMHO Dr. Gopal Rao.
Dr. Appayya, who served as the DMHO for nearly eight years, was celebrated for his exceptional contributions to healthcare in Mulugu district. Born into a humble tribal family in Mulugu, Dr. Appayya overcame challenges to pursue higher education and dedicated his career to improving healthcare in remote tribal villages. His efforts in providing medical facilities to tribal communities, including Gutta Koyas residing in forests and hilly terrains, earned him widespread recognition from tribal residents, public representatives, senior officials, and even state ministers and governors.
During his tenure, Dr. Appayya not only ensured healthcare access to marginalized populations but also raised awareness about dietary habits and government medical services. His work became a model for other districts, and he was praised as an inspiration for healthcare professionals across the state. The felicitation ceremony included accolades from Dr. Gopal Rao, who acknowledged Dr. Appayya’s significant role in establishing container-based health sub-centers and creating specific plans to enhance program efficiency.
In his farewell address, Dr. Appayya expressed gratitude and emphasized that dedication and responsibility in one’s role not only benefit the department but also lead to personal growth. He was lauded for fostering coordination among all levels of the health department, from ASHA workers to state-level officials.
The event witnessed participation from several dignitaries, including Dr. Jagadishwar, Superintendent of the District Government Hospital; District Program Officers Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Chandrakant; Office Superintendent Sampath; In-charge AMO Durga Rao; Community Health Officer Poornasampada Rao; Senior Assistant Ganesh; and Primary Health Center medical officers. The RBSK team, multi-level health providers, DEO Kiran, Sathish, Anil, and office staff also attended, making the ceremony a memorable occasion.
