Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that controlling crime and restoring law and order are the primary goals of the Andhra Pradesh government. Addressing newly trained probationary ASPs and DSPs at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Minister provided clear directives on their roles and responsibilities.
Highlighting past challenges, Chandrababu stated, “In the last five years, peace and order were significantly disrupted. Criminals infiltrated politics, and law enforcement faced setbacks due to compromised leadership. Now, we must restore the system to its rightful place. Officers must take strict action against individuals involved in drug trafficking, ganja smuggling, and illegal activities.”
He noted that the state had become a hub for drug distribution, which escalated crime rates. “Under no circumstances should you compromise in your duties. Act firmly against drug transportation, illegal sand mining, and belt shops,” he urged.
The Chief Minister also warned about the growing challenge of cybercriminals, stating, “Cybercrime will pose a significant challenge in the coming days. You must think ahead of them to curb their activities effectively. Maintaining law and order will attract investments and create jobs in the state.”
He reiterated the importance of friendly policing and technological advancements introduced during his previous tenure, including body-worn cameras and CCTV surveillance, which had proven effective in reducing crime. “However, these advancements were neglected over the last five years,” he lamented.
Addressing concerns about crimes against women and children, the Chief Minister stressed, “Officers must act with zero tolerance towards heinous crimes and take strict measures to curb anti-social activities. We expect you to perform in line with our vision for a peaceful and progressive Andhra Pradesh.”
The probationary officers pledged to carry out their duties with diligence, aligning with the government’s focus on public safety and justice.
