Tirupati, January 4:

District Collector Dr. S. Venkateshwar has directed officials to initiate a thorough verification process for NTR Bharosa social security pensions provided to bedridden and chronically ill patients. The process will begin on Monday, following the guidelines issued by the government.

Addressing officials through a teleconference on Saturday afternoon, the Collector emphasized the importance of transparency and accuracy in the verification process. The meeting included PD Velugu, DMHO, DCHS, Ruia Hospital Superintendent, ZP CEO, and other municipal and health department officials, along with digital assistants and verification team members.

The Collector stated that the verification process was necessitated by complaints of ineligible beneficiaries receiving social security pensions. The first phase will focus on verifying 15,000 beneficiaries who are bedridden or wheelchair-bound and receiving ₹15,000 pensions. Special teams, comprising two specialist doctors, PHC staff, digital assistants, and ward secretariat staff, will conduct home visits and record the findings in a dedicated government app.

The Collector stressed the need for a meticulous and impartial review, urging MPDOs and municipal commissioners to oversee the process. The re-verification for 1,199 bedridden pension beneficiaries across the district must be completed by the end of the month. Strict action will be taken against officials found issuing fraudulent certificates.

Training sessions for verification teams were conducted in the evening to ensure they understand the process and objectives.

The teleconference was attended by Velugu Program Director Sobhan Babu, Deputy CEO Zubeda, DMHO Balaji Naik, DCHS Anandamurthy, Ruia Hospital Superintendent Ravi Prabhu, and other senior officials.
