The area currently known as Pakistan Colony in the 62nd division has officially been renamed Bhagiratha Colony, as per the provisions of the law. In a statement released on Tuesday, NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmi said that approximately 60 residents of the area have already changed their Aadhaar addresses as part of this renaming process.
The decision to rename the area was made after considering petitions from various local leaders, including members of the Sagar Rajput (Kshatriya Varna Sagar) Seva Samiti, and other local residents. These petitions were submitted to the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation, which, following Section 418 of the Municipal Corporation Act, presented the proposal to the council.
After the council approved the resolution, the necessary orders were issued. Three special Aadhaar centers were set up in coordination with the Municipal, Village Ward Secretariat, Revenue, and Aadhaar authorities to facilitate the address changes for residents of Bhagiratha Colony.
Of the 270 residents in the area, 60 have already changed their addresses, with 80 residents previously listed under Pakistan Colony. Those who have yet to update their addresses are encouraged to visit the designated Aadhaar centers to make the necessary changes. From now on, the area will officially be referred to as Bhagiratha Colony.
