KAMAREDDY, DECEMBER 14
Kamareddy police, under the leadership of SP Sindhu Sharma, have uncovered a major fake currency racket, seizing counterfeit notes worth ₹56.9 lakh and arresting six individuals involved in the operation. The police made the breakthrough on December 13 during a routine traffic check near Koyyagutta in Banswada town. Three suspects, who attempted to flee from their car, were apprehended, leading to the discovery of ₹30 lakh in fake ₹500 notes.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the suspects were part of a larger criminal network operating across Telangana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra. The group rented a penthouse in Hyderabad’s Boinpally for ₹1 lakh per month, where they set up advanced printing equipment to manufacture fake currency. A subsequent raid on the apartment led to the recovery of an additional ₹26.9 lakh in counterfeit notes, along with sophisticated equipment used for their production.
The arrested individuals include Kadapatri Raj Gopal Rao, a Telangana native and the mastermind behind the operation, and Hussain Peera from Karnataka, who co-financed the scheme. Distributors Kiran Kumar and Ramesh Goud from Kamareddy, along with Radhakrishna @ Bharadwaj from Uttarakhand, were also apprehended. Two other key members, Kamlesh Sukhram from Rajasthan and Ajay Eashwar Lokhande from Maharashtra, remain absconding. Police have launched efforts to track and arrest them.
The seized items include counterfeit ₹500 notes amounting to ₹56.9 lakh, computer systems, printers, paper stocks, and other tools required for currency production. Six mobile phones and a car used by the suspects were also confiscated. SP Sindhu Sharma commended the swift action of the Banswada police team, led by Inspectors Srinivas and Ashok, and SI Raju, who played a crucial role in dismantling the racket. The officers and their team have been felicitated for their exemplary efforts.
This criminal network had plans to destabilize the economy by circulating fake currency and exploiting innocent citizens. The arrested suspects have been remanded in custody, and authorities have assured that the absconding criminals will be apprehended soon. SP Sindhu Sharma reiterated the police department’s commitment to protecting the economy and maintaining public trust through decisive actions against such malicious activities.
