Savitribai Phule Jayanti was celebrated in Nalgonda today under the leadership of the District Committee of the Kulavivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangham (KVPS) at the Doddikomurayya Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, KVPS District General Secretary Paladugu Nagarjuna emphasized that education is the only remedy for social, economic, and political inequalities.

Nagarjuna highlighted how the Manusmriti prescribed oppressive measures to keep marginalized communities away from education, citing practices such as cutting off tongues for reciting the Vedas and pouring molten lead into ears for listening to them. This systemic deprivation aimed to render the underprivileged ignorant and subjugated, Nagarjuna stated.

He lauded Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule for their pioneering efforts in promoting education for women and marginalized sections. Despite facing immense humiliation, Savitribai Phule stood firm in her mission, establishing schools to empower women and break the shackles of ignorance.

Criticizing current policies, Nagarjuna pointed out that contemporary governments fail to allocate sufficient budgets to provide compulsory and free education, as mandated by the Indian Constitution. He called on everyone to work collectively to fulfill the vision of Savitribai Phule.

The event was attended by KVPS District Assistant Secretary Gade Narasimha, leaders Bollu Ravinder, Paripoornachari, Erpula Yadayya, Puppala Mattayya, and Paladugu Ellayya, among others.
