20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Rape and POCSO Case in Saroor Nagar

The fast-track special court in LB Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, delivered a landmark judgment today in a rape and POCSO case under Cr. No. 814/2018, Saroor Nagar PS. The court sentenced the accused, Varikuppala Mahesh (23), a bike mechanic from Vishnu Puri Colony, Champapet, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹25,000. Additionally, the court ordered compensation of ₹5,00,000 to be paid to the victim.
The accused was convicted under Sections 366 and 376(2)(n) of the IPC and Section 5 read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The heinous crime was reported in 2018, and the swift trial underscores the commitment of the judiciary to ensuring justice for victims of sexual offenses.
