20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Rape and POCSO Case in Saroor Nagar

 The fast-track special court in LB Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, delivered a landmark judgment today in a rape and POCSO case under Cr. No. 814/2018, Saroor Nagar PS. The court sentenced the accused, Varikuppala Mahesh (23), a bike mechanic from Vishnu Puri Colony, Champapet, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹25,000. Additionally, the court ordered compensation of ₹5,00,000 to be paid to the victim.

The accused was convicted under Sections 366 and 376(2)(n) of the IPC and Section 5 read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The heinous crime was reported in 2018, and the swift trial underscores the commitment of the judiciary to ensuring justice for victims of sexual offenses. The judgment serves as a stern warning to offenders and reinforces faith in the judicial system.
