JANUARY 17

Karimnagar Mayor Yadagiri Sunil Rao highlighted the transformative development works undertaken across the city with a cumulative investment of ₹1400 crore from various grants under schemes like Smart City, AMRUT, Pattana Pragathi, and Finance Commission. The Mayor announced that projects completed under the Smart City initiative will be inaugurated and made accessible to the public between January 20 and 24.

During his visit to the 34th division in Godangadda on Friday, Mayor Sunil Rao, along with local corporator Shakeera Anjum Barkath Ali, inaugurated development works funded by ₹74 lakh from municipal general funds. These included two CC roads and SWG drainage pipelines. He emphasized that the construction of new roads and drainage systems was essential due to the deteriorating condition of old infrastructure, which had caused significant inconvenience to residents.

The Mayor noted that under his administration, ₹200 crore from municipal general funds had been utilized to improve drainage systems, lay CC roads, and expand colonies across the city. He stated that these measures have significantly reduced issues like mosquito breeding and unhygienic conditions, ensuring cleaner surroundings for residents.

Sunil Rao also reflected on the historical challenges of utilizing general funds for development projects, adding that the current administration swiftly allocated funds whenever corporators brought public grievances to their attention. He credited the transformation of Karimnagar’s infrastructure to collaborative efforts between government officials, contractors, and public representatives.

The Mayor outlined key road projects, including connections from Godangadda to the Bypass, Ambedkar Stadium, and Gautami Nagar, as well as improvements to major thoroughfares like Bhagat Singh Chowrastha to Ramachandrapur Bypass and Vidyanagar to Satavahana University. These upgrades have eased travel for residents and enhanced the city’s overall aesthetic appeal.

He expressed confidence that the people of Karimnagar would appreciate the development initiatives and continue to support his administration. The Mayor assured the public of ongoing efforts to address long-standing demands, including relocating the CWC warehouses in Godangadda to reduce local inconveniences.

Sunil Rao concluded by announcing that final stages of several development projects are underway, with a commitment to completing them by March. The Mayor reiterated that Karimnagar’s progress across all sectors is unparalleled, crediting the achievements to the cooperation of higher officials, government leaders, and his administrative team.
