Nirmal: District Collector was speaking at the ‘Local for Vocal’ program organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) on Monday at the NTR Mini Stadium in the town. The event marked the participation of self-help group (SHG) women from six mandals, trained under the EDI Institute, in manufacturing handmade crafts, food items, daily essentials, and packaging.

The Collector inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon to open the stalls set up by the SHG women to showcase their products. Lighting the ceremonial lamp, she emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and financial independence through active participation in SHGs. She highlighted the need for savings among women and promised to facilitate proper arrangements to market their products effectively. The Collector praised the quality of the showcased items and encouraged the SHGs to expand their product distribution beyond the district to the entire state.

Acknowledging the efforts of the EDI Institute in training the women, the Collector expressed gratitude and urged women to utilize the opportunities provided by the government for their growth. She stressed that such initiatives could enable women to achieve notable success across various fields.

The event was attended by Additional Collector Faizan Ahmad, DRDO Vijayalakshmi, MEPMA PD Subhash, Municipal Commissioner Khamar Ahmad, Nirmal Town Tahsildar Raju, CDPO Nagamani, MPDO Rathod Radha, EDI Project Officer Bhupati, SHG women, and other officials and staff.
