Karimnagar, December 31

District Collector Pamela Satpathy on Tuesday inaugurated the release of irrigation water from the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) to the ayacut via the Kakatiya Canal for the Yasangi agricultural season. The event began with rituals, including offering flowers to the reservoir water and performing a pooja at the regulator gate, followed by switching on the system to release water into the canal.

During the event, the Collector inquired about the ayacut coverage, the capacity of the reservoir, and the volume of water being released. She instructed officials, including Irrigation Department SE Peddi Ramesh, to ensure water release continues as per the scheduled plan.

According to SE Ramesh, a total of 44.480 TMC of water is planned to be released for Yasangi irrigation, covering an area of 6,97,708 acres. He mentioned that 4,000 cusecs of water would be released daily, with 11 TMC sourced from the Mid Manair Dam and 5 TMC from the SRSP Project. Currently, the Lower Manair Dam has a water storage of 22.870 TMC.
