The coalition government is committed to creating 20 lakh jobs in the next five years in both the public and private sectors, announced Minister for Education and IT, Nara Lokesh. Speaking at the first meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Employment Generation held at his Undavalli residence, Lokesh emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among government departments to achieve this ambitious goal.
The meeting, chaired by Lokesh and attended by Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, discussed strategies to implement the coalition’s manifesto promise. Lokesh highlighted that the manifesto, designed from grassroots-level feedback, prioritized job creation as its first commitment. He shared a personal anecdote about a mother from Gangadhara Nellore, who inspired the inclusion of this goal after she urged him to secure employment for her two educated children.
The sub-committee, formed to monitor this initiative, will meet every 15 days and hold monthly discussions with the Chief Minister to track progress. Lokesh stressed the need to eliminate inter-departmental coordination gaps and closely monitor investments and job creation.
Tourism Minister Durgesh pointed out the lack of progress in the state over the past five years and praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s relentless efforts to place the state back on track. He underscored the importance of leveraging tourism’s vast potential and ensuring a balanced focus on development and welfare.
During the meeting, officials from various departments, including agriculture, industries, health, IT, and tourism, presented their plans and targets through PowerPoint presentations. The focus remains on aligning departmental objectives to drive employment and investment, ensuring the coalition government delivers on its promise to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
