Sports Promote Holistic Development: Mulugu Collector Diwakar T.S.

District Collector Diwakar T.S. emphasized that sports contribute not only to physical fitness but also to mental well-being, fostering a healthier society. He was speaking at the Tangedu Ground on Thursday during the sports competitions organized for public representatives and officials as part of the Praja Palana Vijayotsavam celebrations.
The Collector, along with Library Chairman Ravi Chander, inaugurated the cricket match by tossing the coin and later entertained the audience by playing cricket with the participants. Addressing the gathering, Diwakar T.S. stated that as part of the government’s Praja Palana-Praja Vijayotsavam, sports competitions are being held district-wide from December 1 to December 8. He highlighted the importance of encouraging students to excel not only academically but also in sports to develop their innate talents and skills.
He announced that the CM Cup 2024 sports competitions will be conducted at the gram panchayat level on December 7 and 8, at the mandal level from December 10 to 12, and at the district level from December 16 to 21. He urged interested athletes to register online to participate in the CM Cup events.
Later, the Collector distributed prizes to the winners of kabaddi at Model School Bandar Palli, handball at Eturnagaram, and cricket at Tangedu Ground. The event saw participation from District Sports Officer in-charge Tula Ravi, cricket coach Sandeep Paidimalla, kabaddi coach P. Janardhan, handball coach Kumar Swamy, government officials, public representatives, and students.
