Service is the True Essence of Social Responsibility: Lions Club Governor Gadde Sheshagiri Rao

Lions Club Vijayawada Medica held its executive committee meeting on Sunday evening at the residence of former Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce President Konakalla Vidyadhar Rao near Shivala Center, Bhavanipuram. Lions Club Governor Gadde Sheshagiri Rao attended as the chief guest, emphasizing that the club should prioritize education, healthcare, and timely assistance to the underprivileged, irrespective of caste or religion.
Governor Sheshagiri Rao lauded the club members for their selfless service and urged them to identify and fulfill the needs of the less fortunate through field-level initiatives. Host Vidyadhar Rao appreciated the club’s outstanding service and encouraged them to continue impactful programs.
Before the meeting, the Governor participated in several charitable activities. At Venkat Sai Old Age Home on RTC Workshop Road, clothes, fruits, and a grinder were distributed to the elderly. At Jeeva Karunya Ashram, food was provided to stray dogs. Special prayers were offered by the Governor and his spouse at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Vidyadharpuram.
During the meeting, Club Secretary Puvvada Lakshmi Srinivas shared that the club has conducted 89 service programs benefiting 22,769 individuals, spending approximately ₹9 lakh over the past year. Club President Paidimarri Venugopal expressed satisfaction with the extensive programs conducted during his tenure.
The club also contributed hearing aids to four individuals, donated ₹51,000 to the Venkateswara Swamy Temple, ₹15,000 to a religious institution, and distributed wheelchairs and rice bags to the needy. CPR awareness program chairperson Devati Nageswara Rao and other donors Arya and Narayanarao were acknowledged for their contributions.
The event also saw the induction of three new members by the Governor. Former club presidents were honored for their past contributions, and members and their families actively participated in the program.
Region Chairperson Anne Kusuma, Zone Chairman Venkat Reddy, Cabinet Secretary Ramarao, Treasurer Eshwar, Srinivas Reddy, N.V.V. Prasad, Dr. Kola Vijayasekhar, and other club members were present. The program concluded with a note of gratitude to all participants and supporters.
