Judicial Inquiry Ordered into Tirupati Stampede Incident

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a judicial inquiry into the tragic stampede incident in Tirupati that claimed the lives of six people. He expressed that the primary causes for the incident were official negligence and human errors. The Chief Minister stated that regardless of whether the mistakes were intentional or unintentional, they were inexcusable.

In response to the incident, action has been taken against five officials involved in the mismanagement. Tirupati SP Subbarao, Joint Commissioner Gautami, and TTD Chief Security Officer Sridhar have been transferred. Additionally, DSP Ramanakumar, who is facing allegations related to the stampede, and the Gosala In-Charge have been suspended. Further action will be taken following the judicial inquiry.

The Chief Minister announced compensation for the victims’ families, with Rs. 25 lakh ex-gratia from TTD funds for the deceased, and Rs. 5 lakh for those severely injured. He also stated that one member from each of the deceased families would be offered contract employment, and jobs would be provided to all six families. Special darshan will be arranged for the 33 injured individuals.

To prevent such incidents from recurring and to preserve the sanctity of Tirumala, the Chief Minister mentioned that several decisions have been made to ensure stricter measures in the future.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party leaders have seized the opportunity to make allegations against the government, criticizing the administration’s handling of the incident. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also visited the hospital to offer his condolences to the victims of the stampede.
