District Must Lead in Surya Ghar Connections: Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha

NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha has directed officials to expedite the registration process for solar electricity connections under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme, aiming to provide connections to two lakh households in the district. During a video conference held from his office at the Collectorate on Friday, the Collector emphasized the need to light every home in the district with solar energy.
Dr. Lakshmisha revealed that 45,000 households have already registered for the scheme, with 35,000 from rural areas and 10,000 from urban areas. He instructed municipal officials to focus on accelerating registrations in urban regions to meet the ambitious target.
The Collector highlighted the government’s substantial subsidies under the scheme, enabling households to access solar electricity at minimal investment. He urged officials to create awareness among the public about these benefits and take necessary measures to achieve the set goals.
The video conference was attended by DRDA Project Director K. Srinivasa Rao, District Electricity Department SE A. Muralimohan, municipal commissioners, and officials from the municipal electricity departments. The meeting underscored the district administration’s commitment to making NTR District a leader in implementing the Surya Ghar scheme.
