Celebrating Telangana Mother Festival on Sonia Gandhi’s Birthday is an Insult: Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal
Deccan Freedom,
Nizamabad, December 9
Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana expressed strong opposition to the Telangana state government’s proposal to celebrate “Telangana Mother Utsav” on Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. Speaking at the assembly media point, he criticized the move, stating that honoring Sonia Gandhi as the “Goddess of Sacrifice” for Telangana undermines the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the Telangana movement.
He questioned why September 17, the day Telangana was freed from Nizam’s autocratic rule, is not being commemorated, accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of ignoring the state’s true historical significance. He further criticized the Congress government for attempting to divert attention from its unfulfilled promises and guarantees by proposing such celebrations.
MLA Dhanpal called for a resolution in the assembly to focus on fulfilling Congress’s electoral guarantees instead of celebrating Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. He stated that this decision is a disrespect to Telangana’s heritage and a betrayal of the state’s martyrs. He urged the government to prioritize the people’s welfare and respect the sentiments of Telangana citizens.
