VEMULAWADA, DECEMBER 24:
Rajanna Sirisilla District Congress leaders, led by Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas, demanded the immediate dismissal of Union Home Minister Amit Shah from the Cabinet. They called for an unconditional apology from Shah in Parliament for his derogatory remarks against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Marking their protest, Congress leaders, including Adi Srinivas, Sirisilla Congress In-Charge KK Mahender Reddy, and former MLA Katakam Mrutyunjayam, paid floral tributes to Ambedkar’s statue in Sirisilla. Following the homage, the Congress cadre held a sit-in protest on the Sirisilla-Kamareddy highway, denouncing Amit Shah’s comments, which they claimed undermined the legacy of Ambedkar.
Addressing the gathering, Adi Srinivas emphasized Ambedkar’s monumental contribution to the nation by drafting a constitution that enshrined rights and equality for all. He criticized Shah for his remarks, stating they reflected a regressive mindset contrary to the values of equality and justice. He highlighted that the BJP leadership’s disregard for Ambedkar’s ideals demonstrated their inability to accept a progressive and inclusive framework for governance.
Srinivas further urged the President to take strict legal and constitutional actions against Amit Shah. He reiterated the importance of Ambedkar’s vision, stating, “It is because of Ambedkar’s Constitution that I serve as a Government Whip, and Amit Shah holds the position of Home Minister.” He called for unity among SC, ST, BC, and minority communities to resist any attempts to undermine constitutional values.
The Congress leaders later organized a rally to the Collectorate, where they submitted a memorandum to Additional Collector Khimya Nayak, demanding Shah’s dismissal and a formal apology in Parliament. The event witnessed a massive turnout of Congress leaders and activists from Vemulawada and Sirisilla constituencies, voicing their dissent against the BJP government.
