Bankers Urged to Support Government Goals: Additional Collector Gautam Reddy

Bankers in the district must actively contribute to achieving government targets and ensuring the timely disbursement of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries, stated Additional Collector Gautam Reddy. Speaking during the quarterly review meeting held at the Collectorate Hall on Tuesday, he emphasized the critical role of banks in facilitating development programs and urged them to strengthen their efforts.

During the meeting, the Additional Collector reviewed the progress made on issues discussed in the previous sessions. He highlighted the importance of creating awareness about cyber fraud and financial literacy, given the rise in cybercrimes. He directed bank branches to organize awareness programs in their respective service areas to educate the public and safeguard them against financial fraud.

The meeting revealed that ₹2,002 crore had been disbursed as agricultural loans in the district during the September quarter, benefiting farmers. Additionally, loans were sanctioned to 1,652 street vendors in the third phase under the Street Vendor Scheme. Under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) category, ₹326 crore was provided to support entrepreneurs, while 337 units were approved under the PMFME scheme.

The Additional Collector also highlighted the financial assistance extended to self-help groups, with ₹473 crore allocated to rural groups and ₹40 crore to urban groups. He emphasized the need for regular monitoring of underperforming banks to ensure the effective implementation of government schemes and directed concerned departments to collaborate closely with financial institutions.

The meeting was attended by Lead Bank Manager Ram Kumar, Union Bank of India Deputy Regional Head Praveen Gopalan, NABARD DDM Dilip Chandra, RBI LDO Sai Teja Reddy, DAO Ramchander, SC Corporation ED Kishore, SC Welfare Officer Raj Kumar, and senior officials from various banks and government departments.
