An awareness program on the Child Helpline 1098 was conducted today at Aurobindo High School, Nerella village, Dharmpuri Mandal. The event emphasized the significance of the national-level helpline, which operates 24/7 to address children’s issues.

During the session, students were informed about the legal marriage age: 18 years for girls and 21 years for boys, as mandated by the Child Marriage Prohibition Act. It was highlighted that under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act, any harassment faced by children under 18 should be reported. Additionally, incidents involving child labor, begging, or orphaned children can be addressed by calling the toll-free number 1098.

The session also covered topics such as recognizing “Good Touch and Bad Touch” and the harmful effects of substance abuse.

The program saw active participation from the school correspondent Jajala Ravinder, Child Helpline staff members Rajitha and Madhusudhan, teachers Harish and Naresh, and the school’s students. The initiative reinforced the collective responsibility of society in preventing child marriages and ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
