PD Act Imposed on Accused in Tribal Woman’s Assault Case

The Telangana government has approved the imposition of the PD Act against Sheikh Magdoom, who was involved in an attempted murder and assault on tribal woman Mesram Neelabai on August 31, 2024. The proposal, initiated by the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, was approved by the PD Act Advisory Board on November 29, 2024, and the government issued orders accordingly, stated District SP D.V. Srinivas Rao, IPS, in a press release today.
The SP warned that stringent actions, including invoking the PD Act, will be taken against individuals involved in illegal activities such as:Unlawful transportation of cattle. Engaging in banned practices like matka, cockfights, and online betting .Spreading misinformation on social media. Illicit transportation of PDS rice.Inciting communal hatred and disturbing public peace.
He emphasized that the police department remains committed to safeguarding public peace and will act decisively against any actions that disrupt social harmony.
