Dedicated Maitri Clinic for Transgender Healthcare Services Inaugurated

Nirmal, December 19:

Transgender individuals must receive respectful and inclusive healthcare services, said Faizan Ahmed, Additional Collector for Local Bodies in Nirmal district. On Thursday, the district’s Government General Hospital saw the inauguration of a special Maitri Clinic for transgender individuals, conducted jointly by officials and members of the transgender community.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Collector Faizan Ahmed emphasized that the government has established Maitri Clinics as a prestigious initiative to ensure discrimination-free healthcare for transgender individuals. He encouraged all transgender individuals to access the services of these clinics using their identification cards. He also announced that special camps would be organized to help transgender individuals obtain identification cards to avail various government benefits.

The Additional Collector also highlighted the importance of the helpline number 155326, where transgender individuals can report any challenges they face.

The event was attended by District Medical Officer Dr. Rajender, Nirmal Market Committee Chairman Soma Bheem Reddy, Government Hospital Superintendent Gopal Singh, Nirmal CDPO Nagamani, CDPO Nagalakshmi, transgender community members, health department officials, and staff.
