Special Drive to Curb Noise Pollution by Modifying Vehicle Silencers
Deccan Freedom News,
Siddipet, December 31,
In a significant move to tackle noise pollution caused by modified vehicle silencers, Siddipet traffic police conducted a special drive under the direction of Traffic ACP Suman Kumar. Over the past few days, 53 modified silencers that contributed to noise pollution were removed and damaged using a road roller at the Siddipet Traffic Police Station premises.
Speaking on the occasion, ACP Suman Kumar stated that silencers on vehicles are manufactured in compliance with traffic, road, and RTO regulations. However, some individuals deliberately modify these silencers, causing noise pollution and creating panic among the public. Under the instructions of the Police Commissioner, a special team was deployed to monitor and identify such violations. As part of the drive, the modified silencers were replaced with standard silencers purchased by the vehicle owners themselves.
The ACP further warned that strict legal action, including filing cases and imprisonment, would be taken against individuals found using or installing silencers that violate noise pollution norms. He urged all vehicle owners to follow traffic and road safety rules diligently and refrain from giving vehicles to minors. Additionally, he advised against drunk driving.
The traffic police have also identified locations such as Komati Cheruvu, Egbaal Minar, Nasarapur, and Ranganayak Sagar Project, where youth often engage in reckless bike riding during evening hours. Special surveillance teams have been deployed in these areas, and stringent action will be taken against violators soon.
The program witnessed the participation of Siddipet Traffic Inspector Praveen Kumar and other traffic personnel, emphasizing the collective efforts of law enforcement to ensure public safety and environmental sustainability.
