Nalgonda, December 11: Dr. Shamim Akhtar, Chairman of the SC One-Member Commission, stated that all applications submitted regarding the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes would be meticulously analyzed, and a detailed report would be submitted to the government.

On Wednesday, Dr. Akhtar held a public hearing at the Nalgonda District Collectorate Conference Hall to study the sub-categorization of SCs, involving community representatives, associations, and individuals from the erstwhile Nalgonda district. During the hearing, numerous individuals and SC community organizations presented their applications and opinions on the matter.

Dr. Akhtar assured attendees that the commission would conduct a scientific study of the collected applications and opinions to prepare a comprehensive report. He encouraged all stakeholders to submit their inputs without hesitation, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to thorough examination. He also mentioned that similar public hearings had been conducted in districts like Ranga Reddy and that those unable to submit applications during district visits could approach the commission directly in Hyderabad.

The public hearing in Nalgonda witnessed the submission of 245 applications from individuals and SC organizations. Following the hearing, Dr. Akhtar visited the Girls’ Residential Degree College in Charlapally, where he interacted with students. He urged them to focus on education, highlighting the comprehensive facilities provided by the government in schools, colleges, and residential institutions. He emphasized that such amenities were unavailable during his educational years, urging students to make the most of the opportunities and excel.

Dr. Akhtar expressed satisfaction with the facilities, food, and academic progress of the students at the Charlapally Residential Degree College. He noted that the institution was well-equipped and that the students were proactive and enthusiastic.

Upon his arrival in the district, Dr. Shamim Akhtar was warmly welcomed by District Collector Ila Tripathi and Additional Collector J. Srinivas at the R&B Guest House with floral greetings. At the Collectorate, he was received by SC Corporation ED and GM Koteswara Rao, DRO Amarender, and RDO Ashok Reddy.

The visit was accompanied by SC Corporation Additional Director Sridhar, DSP Sivarama Reddy, Tahsildar Srinivas, and State Office Superintendent Sajjan Kumar, among others.
