District Collector Rajarshi Shah conducted a surprise inspection at the tribal ashram school in Boath mandal, focusing on the quality of food and facilities provided to students in hostels.

During the visit, the Collector inspected the kitchen, food being prepared for students, and the storage of rice and other provisions. He emphasized the importance of storing supplies properly to prevent spoilage and advised using rice only as needed to avoid wastage. He checked the water being used for cooking and drinking, ensuring it was safe, and inspected the RO plant at the facility. He instructed the staff to maintain hygiene by washing hands thoroughly, wearing gloves, and using hair caps while cooking and serving meals.

The Collector directed officials to ensure the rice, vegetables, and other supplies being provided are of good quality. If substandard materials are supplied, they must be returned, and corrective measures taken to secure quality items. He stressed the need to provide all necessary facilities to ensure the comfort of students in the hostels.

Interacting with students, the Collector inquired whether teachers were attending regularly, teaching effectively, and covering the chapters as per the syllabus. He sought feedback on food and other basic facilities and encouraged teachers to focus on improving the learning capabilities of students.

Afterward, he reviewed the day’s meal, verifying if it matched the prescribed menu. He noted that items like ragi java, eggs, chicken curry, and buttermilk should be provided as part of the meals and directed the food security committee to monitor this daily.

The Collector announced that representatives, parents, and officials would be invited to the launch of the increased diet charges tomorrow. He said they would join the students for a meal to mark the occasion.

The inspection was attended by RDO Vinod Kumar, Tahsildar Subhash Chander, Special Officer Mohammad Waheed, Headmaster Shankar, Warden Priya, teachers, and others.
