Nethradanam by Peddasuraram Family Inspires Many

A noble gesture was made by the family of Tantenapalli Ramachandru (63) from Peddasuraram village, Nalgonda Mandal, after his unfortunate demise. His sons, Ramulu and Ramalingam, consented to donate his eyes, setting an inspiring example for others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Haranath expressed that death is always a moment of great sorrow, but the family’s decision to donate eyes amidst grief reflects an extraordinary act of humanity. “Such noble acts earn the title of ‘Bhakta Kannappa’ for the donors,” he stated.

The collected corneas were sent to a renowned hospital in Hyderabad, where they will be used for corneal transplant surgeries within 72 hours. This could restore vision for two to four visually impaired individuals through keratoplasty, bringing joy to their families. Dr. Pullarao mentioned that recipients would likely regain sight within 15 to 30 days and enjoy the beauty of this world once again.

The event saw the participation of Program Coordinator Chiranomula Chandrasekhar, Lions Club Secretary Nimmala Pitchaiah, Red Cross Chairman Goli Amarender Reddy, and members of the Indian Medical Association, who extended their gratitude for this selfless act.
