Rajanna Sircilla: The first day of National Road Safety Month was observed in Sircilla on Wednesday with an awareness program organized by the district transport department. Officials, staff, and local transport authorities participated actively, emphasizing the importance of road safety and vehicle maintenance to prevent accidents and save lives.
The program highlighted several critical road safety measures. Two-wheeler riders were urged to wear helmets to prevent head injuries, while car passengers were reminded to use seat belts to reduce the severity of injuries during accidents. The officials stressed adhering to speed limits and avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol, which is both dangerous and illegal.
Participants were also advised to refrain from using mobile phones while driving, as it distracts attention and increases the likelihood of accidents. Observing traffic rules, such as respecting traffic signals and zebra crossings, was highlighted as a crucial step toward safer roads. Regular vehicle servicing, including checking brakes, tires, and lights, was also recommended. Officials further urged drivers to inspect under and behind vehicles for children or animals before starting them.
District Transport Officer V. Lakshman, along with Motor Vehicle Officer G. Vamsidhar and Assistant Motor Vehicle Officers Rajani and Pruthviraj Varma, led the initiative. Other participants included staff members Constables Ramya, Soumya, Prashanth, and Ellesh.
The program concluded with a gesture of goodwill as sweets were distributed to drivers and vehicle owners who attended the session. Officials reiterated that following these road safety practices can significantly reduce accidents and safeguard lives.
