December 7,

The reports alleging illegal sales of fowls from the Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple are baseless and misleading, clarified Telangana Minister for Environment, Forest, and Endowments, Smt. Konda Surekha. The Minister dismissed these allegations as a conspiracy to defame the government and criticized the spread of false information with malicious intent.

Minister Surekha recalled that during the previous government’s tenure, the increasing number of fowls offered by devotees at the Vemulawada temple had become difficult to manage, leading to the unfortunate deaths of several fowls. To address this issue, in May, a committee was formed with the Sircilla District Collector as Chairperson and the Vemulawada Temple EO as Convener, along with other members, to establish guidelines for the management of these offerings.

A Government Order (GO) was issued outlining the distribution process, which mandates that farmers must provide documents such as their Pattadar passbook, Aadhaar card, phone number, and a certification from the Mandal Agriculture Officer. Minister Surekha emphasized that only farmers with valid documents are eligible to receive two fowls each, in accordance with these guidelines.

She also highlighted that, under the Congress government, significant improvements have been made for the preservation of the fowls, including the construction of CC flooring, additional sheds, and enhanced water facilities at the temple’s goshala. These measures reflect the government’s commitment to the welfare of mute animals, she added.

Minister Surekha strongly rejected the allegations of illegal sales as baseless rumors, reaffirming that all applications related to fowl distribution are forwarded to concerned authorities for proper verification. She reiterated that the temple authorities have strictly followed government guidelines in distributing fowls to farmers, and there is no evidence of any irregularities.

Furthermore, the Minister clarified that each fowl distributed from the temple is permanently tagged, and no tagged fowls have been found elsewhere. She pointed out that the Vemulawada Temple EO had already provided clarity on the issue yesterday.

Minister Surekha concluded by stating that the government is committed to protecting the sentiments of Hindus and will take strict legal action against anti-social elements attempting to spread misinformation and disrupt harmony in society.
