DECCAN FREEDOM NEWS

Alwal, January 7

Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy conducted a review of the construction progress at the Alwal TIMS Hospital, which is being built at an estimated cost of ₹897 crores. Spread across 11.53 lakh square feet, the hospital’s construction is 90% complete, and officials assured that it would be operational soon.

During the review, the Minister questioned the lack of a dharamshala (rest house) facility at the hospital. He expressed dissatisfaction with the oversight, pointing out that similar facilities were included in the TIMS hospitals at Sanathnagar and LB Nagar. He strongly criticized the officials, stating, “If it was possible there, why is it not being built here?” He further emphasized that the lack of coordination between departments was creating unnecessary delays.

Officials informed the Minister that the hospital will feature 35 departments and 24 operation theatres, offering extensive healthcare services. However, the Minister expressed concern over the negligence in constructing the dharamshala, despite 70% of the building being completed.

Construction authorities explained that delays were caused by changes made by the previous government under the pretext of Vastu compliance, which disrupted the original timeline. The Minister lamented the lack of inter-departmental coordination, calling it unacceptable and urging immediate resolution of such issues.

The Minister highlighted Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s special focus on TIMS hospitals and reiterated the CM’s directive to complete the hospitals at Sanathnagar, LB Nagar, and Alwal by December 2025. He assured that the Alwal TIMS hospital would be inaugurated by the CM soon after its completion.

The Minister also pointed out delays in the LB Nagar TIMS construction, which was initially planned for 2021 but has only reached 27% progress due to land disputes. He noted that since assuming office, he has resolved significant issues, including land-related challenges, ensuring smoother progress for all projects.

Addressing construction agencies, the Minister urged them to focus on building a hospital of exceptional quality that serves the public efficiently. He emphasized the need for careful, timely, and coordinated execution, ensuring the hospital meets the highest standards. Special attention was directed toward critical departments such as Major OT, Emergency, Radiology, Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine.

Finally, the Minister assured that he would personally coordinate with the Chief Minister to expedite arrangements and ensure all pending work is completed swiftly. “Let us create a hospital that functions like a non-profit organization and earns the admiration of everyone,” he said, urging teams to work with dedication and speed.
