Illegal Sand Smuggling Exposed at Ubalanka Ramp

Illegal sand smuggling activities have come to light at the Ubalanka sand ramp in Ravulapalem Mandal, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Violating the sand policy guidelines, lorries are being loaded with sand using heavy machinery at night and sold at exorbitant prices.

While the policy stipulates sand loading and transport only between 6 AM and 6 PM with proper billing, the smuggling operation uses six-unit lorries sold for ₹8,000–₹10,000 and market lorries for ₹25,000–₹30,000 per load.

Despite such blatant violations, local authorities have remained unresponsive, raising concerns about possible collusion.

This illegal activity undermines the efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who introduced the free sand policy to benefit the public. Middlemen, however, are exploiting the system for personal gain, tarnishing the government’s intent to provide affordable resources to the people.

Residents urge immediate action to address this malpractice and hold those responsible accountable.
