Karimnagar District Collector Pamela Satpathy emphasized the need to shape government school students into well-rounded individuals, pledging to provide necessary resources. On Saturday, she held a review meeting with Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) and other officials at the Collectorate Conference Hall.
The Collector directed education officers to frequently inspect schools and hostels, ensuring necessary repairs are promptly addressed. Monthly inspection reports for hostels were mandated, and officers were instructed to prioritize cleanliness, discipline, and meal management among students.
Highlighting the importance of practical learning, she called for regular field trips to banks, post offices, government offices, industries, and irrigation projects to enhance students’ knowledge and experience. She urged the setup of Vitamin Gardens in every school and proposed activity calendars for Eco Clubs, Conscious Clubs, and Prahari Clubs to foster engagement.
Special emphasis was placed on creating awareness programs for students, including sessions on “Good Touch, Bad Touch,” career options, and skill development. Art and craft exhibitions aligned with festivals were also encouraged, involving trained students and teachers.
The Collector stressed the optimal use of science kits provided by the GenY Foundation and advocated for the use of “Chekumuki” magazines to promote reading habits. Parent-teacher meetings should include discussions on student progress, while out-of-school children and migrant workers’ kids must be identified and educated.
Programs such as Science Labs, Skill Development, Eco Clubs, and coding workshops were reviewed for their implementation and progress. Specific attention was directed towards 10th-grade students, with instructions to screen educational films and encourage written reviews for critical thinking.
The meeting also focused on various initiatives like dog bite orientation, TED-Ed, Olympiad preparation, Swara Madhuri (music training), vermicomposting, and computer education. Officials were tasked with integrating these programs to ensure comprehensive development.
Joint Collector Ajay Yadav, District Science Officer Jaipal Reddy, Samagra Shiksha Coordinator Ashok Reddy, and other officials participated in the session, ensuring collective efforts for the betterment of government school education in the district.
