Former Minister and BRS District President Jogurammana urged the state government to provide reservations to Backward Classes (BCs) based on population after the completion of the ongoing caste census. He submitted a memorandum to Dedicated Commission Chairman Boosani Venkateshwara Rao during his visit to the district for a public hearing on reservations.
During the meeting, Jogurammana discussed various aspects related to BC reservations. He stressed that the government should act swiftly to ensure fair reservations for BCs without causing inconvenience to other communities. He emphasized the importance of basing reservations on population data and suggested that the state government, like Tamil Nadu, should include the matter in the Ninth Schedule before submitting the report to the central government.
Jogurammana stated that this approach would simplify the reservation process and ensure transparency and acceptability. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing comprehensive survey findings for framing policies that benefit BCs equitably.
The event was attended by BCDWO Raja Linga, BRS leaders Dasari Ramesh, Navate Srinivas, Bodagam Mamatha, Karuna, and Ugge Vittal, among others.
