The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj witnessed a mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance by Dr. Parankusha Sharath Chandra’s ensemble, organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) as part of their spiritual and cultural contributions. Following the Swamivari Oonjal Seva at the TTD’s replica temple, the event continued with a Bharatanatyam recital under the guidance of Dr. M. Uma Muddubala, Principal of Sri Venkateswara College of Music and Dance.
The ensemble, led by Guru Dr. Parankusha Sharath Chandra, included talented dancers Shiva Prasad, Usha Sri, Veena Sharma, and Hemalatha Pushpanjali. They enthralled the audience with their expressions and movements, performing to devotional compositions such as Sivaprasad’s Shiva Tandavam, Bho Shambho, Muddulaade Baludu, Vinayaka Kautham, Dashavatar Ashtapadi, Muddhugare Yashoda, and the Hanuman Chalisa. Each performance resonated with bhakti, leaving the audience spellbound.
Performing Bharatanatyam at the Maha Kumbh Mela, which occurs once every 144 years, was described by the ensemble as a once-in-a-lifetime blessing. Dr. Sharath Chandra remarked that the opportunity to showcase their art in such a divine setting was a testament to their dedication to preserving and promoting Indian classical dance.
