Karimnagar, January 8

Karimnagar MLA and former minister Gangula Kamalakar criticized the Congress government for its failure to prioritize development in Karimnagar. On Monday, he toured the 12th and 16th divisions of the city and laid the foundation stones for various projects.

In the 12th division, the MLA inaugurated the Venkateshwara Colony arch and, alongside local division corporator Thota Ramulu, performed a groundbreaking ceremony for a CC road and drainage project funded with ₹27 lakh under general funds. Residents of the division gave MLA Gangula a warm welcome with floral tributes and felicitations.

Later, in the 16th division, MLA Kamalakar laid the foundation for a new island construction at Padmanagar Junction. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the significant development works completed during the BRS government under Chief Minister KCR’s leadership. “Under the CM Assurance Fund, ₹350 crore has been allocated over three years for the development of Karimnagar,” he said. He accused the Congress government of halting these funds, leading to stagnation in the city’s progress.

He urged the current government to release the CM Assurance Fund to complete pending projects and fulfill its promises to the people. Kamalakar also reiterated the BRS government’s commitment to allocating 10 acres for the construction of a Venkateshwara Swamy temple and called upon Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and TTD Chairpersons to support this initiative.

The MLA also pointed out Congress’ attempts to disrupt the Venkateshwara Swamy Brahmotsavams and criticized their negligence in initiating preparations for the upcoming February celebrations.

Responding to recent cases filed against BRS leader KTR, Kamalakar stated that the Congress government is engaging in politically motivated actions. He expressed confidence that KTR, whom he described as instrumental in elevating Telangana’s brand image, would emerge unscathed. “We trust the judiciary and are prepared to fight for the people, even if it means going to jail,” he added.

The event was attended by Karimnagar Mayor Sunil Rao, BRS city president Challa Harishankar, corporators Thota Ramulu, Bonala Srikanth, Nampally Srinivas, and other leaders.
