Crackdown on Illegal Chinese Manja in Adilabad

The Adilabad police conducted surprise inspections in the town to curb the illegal sale of Chinese manja, which is banned in Telangana. Acting on credible information, Adilabad DSP L. Jeevan Reddy led a team that included One Town and Two Town inspectors and staff to raid various shops.
During the inspection, they seized banned Chinese manja worth ₹50,000 from Lakshmi Seasonal Shop on Ashok Road. A case has been registered against the shop owner, Srinivas, at the Adilabad One Town Police Station.
DSP Jeevan Reddy emphasized that selling or using Chinese manja is a criminal offense under state law and warned shopkeepers and traders against engaging in such activities. He stated that the use of Chinese manja poses serious risks to public safety and animal life, reiterating the government’s strict stance against it.
The inspections were part of a broader campaign to enforce the ban, with officials urging the public to report any violations. The operation involved One Town CI Sunil, Two Town CI Karunakar, and other personnel. The police pledged to continue their efforts to eliminate the sale and use of the hazardous material in the district.
