Nalgonda, December 31
Nakirekal MLA Vemula Veeresham addressed a press conference in Nalgonda, where he highlighted the Congress party’s vision for Telangana and criticized the BRS government for its failures over the past decade. Veeresham credited Sonia Gandhi for the creation of Telangana, stating that it was a bold step when the Congress foresaw its declining influence in Andhra Pradesh.
He accused the BRS government of plunging Telangana into a debt of ₹7.5 lakh crore and neglecting critical projects in Nalgonda. He promised that a Congress-led government would complete the pending irrigation and infrastructure projects neglected under the BRS regime. He alleged that between 2014 and 2018, the government awarded contracts to its associates but left projects incomplete while misappropriating funds.
Speaking on the Musi river pollution, Veeresham praised CM Revanth Reddy for taking genuine steps to clean the river despite attempts by rival political groups to block the project. He emphasized that the pollution of the Musi is a major issue for residents along its banks, with WHO warning that inaction could push the area into a danger zone. He reiterated that 80% of Nakirekal constituency depends on the Musi and assured that Congress would ensure its rejuvenation.
Veeresham outlined Congress’s achievements and future plans for Nakirekal, including the allocation of ₹1,238.57 crore to the constituency, ₹368.61 crore for farmer loan waivers, ₹103.07 crore for road development, and the completion of a 100-bed hospital in 2025. He promised to construct government buildings by 2026 and highlighted Congress leaders PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh’s legacy in making India a globally competitive economy.
